Silence

This page provides specific information about integrating Silence into the Astara Connect system through our API services. Soon, this process will be streamlined via the Platform by following the steps to register a tracker.

Connectivity

Astara Connect provides a direct connectivity solution for Silence fleet vehicles, enabling the retrieval of dynamic vehicle data. Previously, all vehicles needed to be registered in a Silence account to connect to the trackers.

Registering Silence credentials

To enable communication between systems, you need to register your Silence credentials into Astara Connect:

The endpoint needs a login_id and password to authenticate your fleet with Silence. Once you have registered these credentials, you can start registering trackers. It's important to note that the Silence ID for the vehicle corresponds to the vehicle’s VIN, and this same value should be used as the tracker_id in Astara Connect.

When registering a Silence vehicle in Astara Connect, you consent to dispatch all vehicle data retrieved to our data stream.

Connectivity states

These are the possible states of a Silence tracker connection within Astara Connect:

• wrong_tracker_id: Wrong tracker_id. Please verify the vehicle ID at the Silence Platform.
• error_credentials: The provided credentials cannot connect to the Silence API.
• pending_for_data: Awaiting the first set of coordinates from the provider. Check the device connection or contact the data provider if the vehicle is in motion and the status remains unchanged.
• error_data: No data has been received, or the telemetry data is incorrect.
• connected: A final state indicating that we are ingesting data from the data provider into Astara Connect.
